Cushing's Syndrome is a hormonal disorder caused by prolonged exposure to high levels of the hormone cortisol in the body. This can occur naturally due to overproduction of cortisol by the adrenal glands or from taking medications containing cortisol. Symptoms may include weight gain, a rounded face, thinning of the skin, muscle weakness, and high blood pressure. Long-term complications can include diabetes, osteoporosis, and an increased risk of infections.
